Horizontal Blinds: How to Measure Inside Mount Blinds

Blind that is mounted inside the framework of the window is called "Inside Mount Blinds".

Requirements:

Recess Space: A minimum recess space of 1 1/4" is recommended to install horizontal blinds by inside mount.

Width: Measure width of window opening at three different locations (i.e. Top, Middle and Bottom) and use the narrowest dimention to order Horizontal Blinds. When ordering, don't forget to mention whether or not you made the deduction for bracket clearance (usually 3/8")! Please note that finished blind width may have a tolerance of +/- 1/8" for most manufacturer.

Height: Measure height of window from top of opening to top of sill. Aluminium blinds may have a tolerance of 0" to +1/2" tolerance in height for most manufacturer.

Horizontal Blinds: How to Measure Outside Mount Blinds

Width:

Measure width of the opening, the blind should overlap the window opening by at least 3/4" on each side for blocking and privacy.

Height:

Measure hight of window from top of opening to top of sill, the blind should overlap the window opening by at least 3/4" top and bottom. An extra 2" should be added above the opening to allow brackets mounting.
